FIP Ranking Points and Tournament Criteria for the 2025 Season

Posted by Matias Sarelius

FIP (International Padel Federation, Federación Internacional de Pádel) is the international padel federation responsible for the global governance of padel. It was established in 1991, and its duties include organizing international competitions, defining rules, and promoting the sport's culture worldwide.

FIP also maintains a global ranking system that classifies padel players based on their performances in international competitions.

FIP has announced the distribution of official FIP ranking points for the 2025 season on the Premier Padel Tour and the CUPRA FIP Tour circuits. The new rules will come into effect on February 3, 2025.

FIP ranking points are calculated based on players' performances in FIP's official competitions, which are divided into different levels.

IMPACT OF TOURNAMENT LEVEL
Each FIP tournament has its own point coefficient, depending on the level of the tournament:

Premier Padel Tour Tournament Winners
Major: 2,000 FIP ranking points / player
Finals: 1,500 pts.
P1: 1,000 pts.
P2: 600 pts.

Cupra FIP Tour Tournament Winners
Platinum: 300 FIP ranking points / player
Finals: 225 pts.
Gold: 150 pts.
Silver: 80 pts.
Bronze: 40 pts.

World Cup Pairs 3.-9.11.2025
In November 2025, the FIP World Cup Pairs tournament, held for the first time, will award the winners 2,000 FIP ranking points and the finalists 1,200 points.

POSITION ACHIEVED IN TOURNAMENT
The points players receive depend on their position in the tournament. The higher the position, the more points are accumulated. Winners and finalists receive the majority of points, but reaching the quarter-finals or early rounds also brings points. It's also possible to collect points from the tournament's qualifiers.

Example of point distribution model (Premier Padel P1, main draw):
Winners: 1,000 FIP ranking points / player
Finalists: 600 pts.
Semi-final: 360 pts.
Quarter-final: 180 pts.
2nd round: 90 pts.
1st round: 45 pts.

CALCULATING POINT ACCUMULATION
Total points for players are calculated as follows:
FIP ranking points are valid for 12 months from the time they are earned. This means that points are removed from a player's total ranking one year after that respective tournament. This revolving system ensures that a player's ranking reflects their current level of play and performance over the past year.

More detailed information about the validity duration of points and the schedule of their removal can be checked from FIP's official rules or their website.

Pair Points
In tournaments, players collect points individually, but the pair's total points can affect which round they start in (e.g., the main draw or qualifiers).

Why is the FIP ranking important?
Participation in tournaments:
A higher ranking allows entry to larger tournaments without having to qualify.

Seeding:
A better ranking results in a more favorable position in the brackets.

Professional career:
Players' visibility and sponsorship opportunities increase with a higher ranking.

QUALIFIERS AND MAIN DRAWS
In addition to the updated point system for 2025, FIP has confirmed the new formats for main draws and qualifiers for the Premier Padel Tour 2025 season for Major, P1, and P2 tournaments in both men's and women's categories.

The following formats will apply to main draws and qualifiers in Premier Padel Tour tournaments, unless otherwise stated*:
