The number of padel players and courts continues to rise
The number of courts and players continues to grow year by year, so at least we haven't seen the peak yet, even though the market has gradually matured.
The number of licensed players has increased annually; In 2022, there were 1,990 players, in 2023 the number of licensed players more than doubled to 4,004, and in 2024 there was still an increase of 26%, with the number of licensed players growing to 5,054. Tracking the total number of enthusiasts is more difficult, but according to the Finnish Padel Federation, there are already over 100,000 enthusiasts in Finland.
Where in 2021 the number of enthusiasts doubled from about 30,000 to over 60,000, the growth of enthusiast numbers has clearly slowed in recent years. The same has happened with the number of courts; in 2021 the number of courts grew from 206 to 623, making it the largest year of court increase measured in Finland. However, the number of courts has continued to grow in recent years, and now there are already 1,115 courts in Finland.
Although the growth percentages of the peak years seem to be history, there is no sign of padel fading as a popular competitive sport or hobby. In particular, the significant increase in the number of licensed players indicates growing interest in competing.
